LIEUTENANT KODY BODNER
Lieutenant Kody Bodner is a lifelong Shasta County resident and raised in the City of Shasta Lake. He attended all schools within the City of Shasta Lake and is a 2006 graduate of Central Valley High School. He started his career with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office in 2006 as a Sheriff’s Cadet. While working as a Cadet, he received his Associate’s Degree from Shasta College in 2010 and subsequently promoted to the position of a Correctional Officer at the Shasta County Jail. In 2013, he attended the Sacramento Police Department POST Basic Academy and was promoted to Sheriff’s Deputy following his graduation.
As a Deputy Sheriff, he worked a variety of assignments, such as patrol within the City of Shasta Lake and South County stations, traffic/DUI investigations, Impact Weapons instructor, Search and Rescue member, Dive Team member, Terrorism Liaison Officer, Field Training Officer, and Major Crimes Unit Detective. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2019 and was assigned to the Enforcement Division to supervise patrol shifts at the South County and City of Shasta Lake Stations.
As a sergeant, he supervised the Reserve Program, FTO Program, Peer Support Program, and Recruitment Team. In 2022, he was assigned as the Administrative Sergeant for the Sheriff’s Office and oversaw internal investigations, equipment ordering, training, and various projects. In June 2023, he was transferred to supervise the ID Lab and Major Crimes Units. During this time, he supervised detectives and non-sworn employees who investigated the most serious crimes within Shasta County. In October 2024, he was promoted to Lieutenant. Lieutenant Bodner was briefly assigned the role of Task Force Commander for the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force (SINTF) while also working as the Station Commander for the City of Shasta Lake. In July 2025, he was assigned the primary role of Station Commander for the city of Shasta Lake Station.
